- The Nikon SB-5000 AF Speedlight introduces 2.4 GHz radio control to Nikon’s Creative Lighting System, enabling Advanced Wireless Lighting with up to six groups at distances up to 98' without line of sight. It’s also compatible with optical triggering, allowing mixed setups with older units for maximum flexibility in diverse lighting configurations.
- A first for shoe-mounted flashes, the SB-5000 features an innovative built-in cooling system that supports over 100 consecutive full-power flashes without overheating. This, combined with a guide number of 113' at ISO 100 and 35mm (180' at 200mm), makes it a compact yet powerful solution for demanding on-location or studio photography sessions.
- The flash head tilts from -7 degrees to 90 degrees and rotates 180 degrees for versatile bounce options, with coverage from 14–24mm (FX) using the built-in diffusion panel. Manual output ranges from 1/1 to 1/256, and flash exposure compensation from -3 to +3 EV in 1/3 steps. Full sync support includes slow, high-speed, 1st, and 2nd curtain modes for creative flexibility.
- Powered by four AA batteries, the SB-5000 recycles in 1.8–2.6 seconds, with optional SK-6 Power Bracket or SD-9 Battery Pack for faster cycles. A backlit LCD, Info button, and auxiliary PC terminal enhance usability, while Unified Flash Control via Camera Control Pro 2 software allows customization and firmware updates directly through the camera.
